Yee-haw! Get Married Like a (Dallas) Cowboy

the new dallas cowboys stadium aka the giant beetle

The new Dallas Cowboy football stadium is no joke. Well, except for the price tag, which tops more than one billion dollars. And the fact that it looks like a cross between E.T.’s mothership and a pregnant beetle. You can imagine how excited I am to tour this prime example of consumerism in early June, when Chris and I visit the great state of Texas.

One of the ways that the new Dallas Cowboy stadium will pay for itself is by offering the opportunity for couples to get married in one of its many high-end lounges or even on the field itself. While Cowboy reps won’t share the price tag for the three wedding receptions already planned at the stadium, my guess is it’s ever-so-slightly more expensive than a road trip. You know, maybe by a couple of dollars.

Which makes me wonder- what was the most expensive wedding you’ve ever attended? Mine was located at the Fairmont in Washington D.C. and cost a cool $200,000. Hey, engraved matchbooks are pricey and necessary!

When I was a kid- I wanted to get married at Dodger Stadiums. I figured you’d understand, given your Steve Sachs fetish.

  2. my sister’s wedding cost my parents 50K because she had to have it at this new hotel that opened downtown. their kitchen wasn’t prepared for 300 people and so the food was so bad we had to order pizza. i’m not even kidding.

Def. had to be my aunt’s wedding when I was a kid. She had three parties- all equally nice- all equally boring- with everything monogrammed that you could ever imagine. kind of ridiculous if you ask me.

one look at the stadium will tell you a lot about Dallas.

  5. The most expensive wedding I’ve ever attended may have been my own. But I assure you, it was tremendous. Also, I’m extremely modest.

  6. Jeez, that’s hideous. I think you should stage a mock wedding there.

Okay, I won’t take offense to this, because I’m from Dallas. The stadium is awesome, wait till you see it in person.

  8. Heather’s wedding was my most expensive, as well! There was nothing ostentatious about it, rather it had everything. No corners cut. Everything of course included a carved wall of ice, the best wedding band ever, and Grey Goose vodka (aka Bruce’s ultra-deluxe bar).
