wedding road trip

14,000 miles, 200 friends, two lives, one big decision

Because You Just Might Need a Shrink…

Today someone told me about a little thing called Wedding Insurance. Basically, this little document ensures you that you won’t be eating SPAM out of the can for several years if your wedding is canceled due to unforeseen events (ie: your future husband never returns from his Vegas bachelor party, or even worse… he does return… with a stripper named Candy).

At this point, I am not sure if our final ceremony location requires this little document, but I’ve gone ahead and checked it out just in case. I found a reasonably good deal at the aptly named PrivateEventInsurance.com. As I was clicking on the “get your quote” button, I noticed a little section marked “Cancellation Insurance.” And that’s where the fun began…

For $90 extra, you get $500 of professional counseling insurance for your cancellation.

For $272 extra, you get $1,000 worth of counseling and $3,000 to recoup any of your guests’ gifts.

For $717 extra, you get $2,000 worth of counseling and $10,000 to make up for the special jewelry you bought.

I’m surprised it didn’t include:

For $500 extra, the insurance company will put a hit out on your fiance.

While I’m leaning toward the cheapo plan ($175)… it got me to thinking… how much counseling will I need after this whole wedding process is finished?

Counseling is no joke- I got left at the altar- I would have loved to have had someone (namely her) foot the bill! Funny piece.

Insurance totally makes sense. It’s the most expensive day you’ll ever have in your life.
